Why can't I add my license to Apple Wallet? ›

Only one license or ID can be associated with any Apple ID at a time. The state issuing authority, not Apple, makes the decision to approve or deny your request to add your license or ID to Apple Wallet.

A digital ID wallet is an app that allows you to store, manage, and share your personal identity and credential information online. This information can include things like your name, date of birth, driver's license, and other data.

For Apple iOS, our app is supported in iOS 13 and above. For Android, we support OS 6.0 and above.

If a user misplaces their iPhone or Apple Watch, they can use the Find My app to lock their device and help locate it, or remotely erase it. Contact your card issuer to see if they support Apple Pay. Update to the latest version of iOS, watchOS, macOS, or visionOS. Confirm that you have Face ID, Touch ID, Optic ID, or a passcode set on your device. Make sure that you are in a supported country or region.

Add your digital ID to your phone with Google Wallet

Now you can add a digital state ID or driver's license to your Android phone.

There is currently no way to store passports on an iPhone outside of just scanning them with the notes app. If you live in one of the states that support Driver's license or State ID feature, you can add it to the Wallet App by following the steps in the support document linked below.

These new capabilities give multiple ways to add and present California driver's licenses and ID cards using iPhone, Apple Watch, and Android devices. These options are part of the DMV's broader mobile Driver's License (mDL) pilot, which launched last year.
