Some more 914 content.

tried my hand at motion blur. Came out ok I think.

and another livery. This one was used on a 911, but I like it so I made one for the 914-6/GT.

And a shot of the naked model. I've been making some more changes and tweaks to this one, changed the rear flares a bit, the skirts, the front bumper, and a bunch of stuff you cant see.

Thanks for the share Amenson.

Working on some variations for a calendar, going to keep it all 914 and 914-6 related, including some views of the engine I've been working on.

Here's a new one, a bit of an offroad 914. I'll probably be adding a roof rack, spare, antenna etc. But it's a starting point.

The Fuchs models that I have on many of my other renderings are 16" and just looked weird and out of place on the lifted 914 so I swapped in the widened 15" steelies. I think ideally it will have narrow 15" Fuchs but that means remodeling.

I've been busy!

I was contacted by a really big deal advertising firm out of San Francisco, MTZHF. They have a client they are working with and were interested in some of my work. We discussed the details a bit of what they were looking for and I gave them a bid. This week at some point they are pitching it to their client. Hoping for the best here but it's been a few nights of light sleep and a bunch of hand wringing.

I hadn't signed a NDA yet so officially they couldn't discuss the client, but it doesn't take much searching online to see that Audi is their only automotive client.

So... this is exciting! If it gets approved it'll allow me to knock out my real 6-cyl project, as well as provide some funds for a 10 year anniversary trip for my wife and I.

In the meantime, here's a bunch of stuff I've been working on lately!

a new 356 model, this was a purchased model that I had to do some tweaking to, also the wheels are scratch built.

Further work on my 934 model, currently about 80% of the exterior is scratch built along with the wheels and tires.

And finally to bring it all back down to earth. I purchased a LE spoiler for the 914, I was toying with the idea of painting my bumpers black and wanted to see what it would look like.

for those following along, the client loved my work but didn't think it was a good fit for the particular model they were working on. They think it might work with a different model, so maybe some time in the future this'll work out.

Until then, it's more of the same...

just kidding. I made a boat

I've always loved old wooden boats. Never owned one yet but I got as far as getting plans and putting together a build list. I reconsidered, not enough garage space, but that doesn't stop me from building a virtual version. The plans for this are available online, it's called a Riviera. I deviated from the plans a little by lengthening it, angling the transom forward, and tweaking some of the curvature. Design cues from many old wooden runabouts but most notably Chris Craft.

And I know it's not 914 related, but I dropped my LWB early 911 model into a new environment I created. backdrop is of course a photo, but the ground and textures are all done in the rendering software.

I'll be doing a 914 in this setting for the calendar, any requests on slab-side or GT?

I have a Chris Craft you can have.... just pay shipping and maybe trade for a few 3D files for me to print and or CNC mill something... persona use and I'll make sure you get one.

Trying again for a rendering in a scene and trying to make it look real. I've tried before and have had varying amounts of success, never really happy with it.

My goal is that the only way people know it's a rendered image is because the panel gaps are too good, haha. I fooled a few people on FB but it's better than the previous attempt at least.

Car may not be everyones taste with the modifications and big wheels, but I dig it.
